Commander (Ret.) Lt. Cmdr. Maksymilian Dura is an Editor at Defence24 and a graduate of the Faculty of Electronics at the Military University of Technology (WAT), where he studied from 1980 to 1985.
He served in the Polish Navy for 26 years (1985–2011), including assignments on intelligence-gathering vessels, as Chief Radar Officer of the 3rd Ship Flotilla in Gdynia, and as Head of the Command and Communications Department at the Polish Navy Headquarters.
He completed postgraduate studies at the Military University of Technology in 1994 and attended the Joint Services Staff College in Paris (2002–2003).
He represented Poland in several NATO working groups, including RADHAZ, MCG-5, and MSA.
As a project manager, he was responsible for the development and implementation of the RM-100 Mobile Radar, an IFF interrogator, AIS/IFF systems, and an Integrated Radar System.
Since 1992, he has authored more than 230 articles in print media, over 10,000 online publications, four research studies, seven defence standards, two standardization textbooks, and eight innovation proposals.
