Krzysztof Gawkowski

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Affairs, and Government Plenipotentiary for Cybersecurity

Krzysztof Gawkowski is a politician, social activist, academic lecturer, and expert in national cybersecurity. He holds a Ph.D. in Humanities and completed postgraduate studies in Labour Law at the University of Warsaw.

He served as a member of the Wołomin City Council from 2002 to 2010 and as a councillor of the Mazovian Regional Assembly from 2010 to 2014. Since 2019, he has been a Member of the Polish Parliament (Sejm), representing the Bydgoszcz constituency. He has also served on the Parliamentary Committee on Digital Affairs, Innovation and Modern Technologies.

From 2019 to 2023, he was Chair of the Left Parliamentary Club, and since 2021 he has served as Deputy Chair of New Left.

An academic lecturer and recognized specialist in state cybersecurity, he was a member of a technical committee of the Polish Committee for Standardization from 2015 to 2020. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles and monographs on new technologies, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, including the award-winning book Cybercolonialism (Cyberkolonializm), which received a distinction from the Polish Information Processing Society.
